Modding
Modding in Glue3D refers to the practice of modifying the game engine to add new features, gameplay mechanics, removed features, or improving performance.
History
From the initial release of Glue3D due to obfuscated code, a select few people would try to deobfuscate it, those people being:
- Cubester
- Derpygamer2142
While being able to deobfuscate it about 60% because of Llwyd having access to unobfuscated beta versions, both SkyisTumbling and Llwyd were able to put together a deobfuscated version[1]. Later, Matt would make YouTube videos showcasing this deobfuscated build that would push GL00B to eventually release a fully open source version.
Plugin Development
Although, short plugin history was the first form of mod for Glue3D, these are plugins that don't directly modify the code of Glue3D, making them originally allowed to be made and easy to use.
Some plugins are "Clipboard Input" by YeaHea, "Save and Load" by Droplets21 and "Random Noise Texture Generator" By Manham528. While simple they were much more common around the initial release of Glue3D due to them not having to deal with obfuscated code.
