Glue3D

Glue3D is a 3D game engine built within Scratch, developed by GL00B. It combines three distinct 3D rendering techniques to enable features such as textured rendering, model editing, bone keyframe animations, scripting, file management, as well as game exporting.
Development History
Development began around May 13, 2025 initially focusing on testing UI elements and establishing an "Aero" window style before the full engine concept was finished.[1]
- June 26, 2025: The core UI was implemented, featuring slight modified icons, though no 3D capabilities yet. The game window just showed a sine wave.[2]
- July 7, 2025: GL00B showcased a basic 3D engine prototype only utilizing the 2D tile raycasting and Mode 7 techniques.[3]
- July 19, 2025: Just 12 days later, mipmapping was implemented to improve texture quality at a distance. Around this time, he was also trying to figure out how to implement 3D models in Glue3D.
- August 19, 2025: An announcement on the Glue3D Discord server revealed the addition of perspective-correct slopes, early 3D model support, and custom textures.[4]
- August 22, 2025: A sneek peek video titled "Glue3d[sic] - a whole 3d[sic] game engine inside scratch[sic]" was released on GL00B's YouTube channel, previewing the 3D rendering, built-in modeler, and script editor.[5]
- September 4-15, 2025: The project reached a milestone of 18,839 blocks (rounded to 20k by GL00B in his announcement). Shortly after, support for stereo/mono blocks was added, and a beta testing program was opened to select users.
Release
Glue3D officially released on January 31, 2026. The launch was met with praise from the community for its technical achievements.
However, the initial release faced backlash due to a last-minute decision to obfuscate the code. This move prevented users from modding the engine or understanding its inner workings. In response to community pressue and the efforts of users attempting to deobfuscate the engine, GL00B released the original unobfuscated code under the version 1.0.1, restoring transparency and enabling modding support.
